WORDS FROM GRANT WINNERS

As a recipient of the School Nutrition Association of Massachusetts Future Leaders grant, I am very grateful to have participated in the 3 day conference this past May of 2019. The grant allowed me to meet, network and interact with other future leaders from across the country. The conference provided key tools to enhance my leadership skills for the State Association.

The SNA National Presidents shared their journeys, achievements, provided key insight on leadership. Their successes are certainly positive and something to aspire too. The conference was well organized and provided me the tools to develop attainable goals as a leader and assist me to be a better public speaker.

Last year, a friend of mine encouraged me to apply for the Future Leaders grant so that I could attend the conference in Sarasota, Florida.  At first I was hesitant because I really did not understand what was all about, but then I thought, “what do I have to lose.”  After attending the conference, I can say that I had absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain!

By attending the conference, I learned so much about how SNA operates and about different ways to get involved.  More specifically, the Future Leaders program taught me valuable lessons about how to be a more effective leader within my own district and within SNA.  We listened to many knowledgeable presenters and were then encouraged to practice the leadership skills that we had learned in a comfortable environment.

I would highly recommend applying for the Future Leaders Grant!  Not only is a great learning experience, but it is also a great way to meet other amazing directors from all over the country!
