Tips for how to make the most of your time
on the SNA Exhibit Floor

Another summer has come and gone. Everybody has had the chance to take a deep breath, get our feet underneath us and get the 2018-19 school year rolling. Of course, that means the SNA-MA Fall Conference is right around the corner, on October 16th and 17th at the DCU Center in Worcester.  All of our industry partners look forward to this day.  For much of industry, it is the only day of the year that allows the opportunity to connect with the food service teams from across Massachusetts. It is a great opportunity for everyone to catch up, exchange information and look at new items for your students.


This day is a big investment for our industry partners. There is a lot of work that goes into the fall conference. Therefore, it is imperative to make the most of this day and support the industry members that support SNA of MA throughout the year. Below are some tips to make the most out of the 2018 Fall Conference Food Show.


For Exhibitors:

  • Bring excitement and Make It an All Out Event!
  • It’s not about us—it is about the School Nutrition Professionals
  • Be prepared and make it fun
  • Have plenty of Point of Sale and Nutritional Information on Products on hand
  • Know the approximate price per serving
  • Bring plenty of Hot or Cold Samples—serve food at the correct temperature
  • Display Neat and Clean Booths—Food Safety is a must
  • Be attentive—do not be on your cell phone or laptop—Make it inviting to stop by!
  • Feature New Products, New Applications and New Reformulations
  • Wear your name tag and be approachable
  • This time is about the School Foodservice Professionals—Listen to what challenges they are facing and then offer  solutions
  • Treat the last person at your booth  with the same enthusiasm as the first
  • Thank All of the School Nutrition Professionals for their attention and their business
  • Complete the evaluation forms that are emailed to you after the show
  • Take notes and reconnect with Directors after the show
 For Attendees:
  • Have Fun!
  • Wear comfortable shoes - the show floor is large
  • Wear Name tags with the name of your school system
  • Bring Name and Address labels
  • Be prepared.  Have an idea of what kinds of products you are looking for
  • Use the common space tables to network, share ideas and talk about items you are looking for or have found at the show.
  • Please do not eat before the Show
  • Please take time to visit ALL the Booths
  • Complete the Evaluation Forms that are emailed to you after the Conference
  • Avoid roaming the floor in large groups—spread out
  • You are the experts, you feed the children—share your experiences with Industry
  • When you receive follow up from Industry after the show—acknowledge that you received the information
  • Thank everyone for supporting your organization
  • Feel free to place orders at the show
  • If a Sales Rep is already in conversation with someone, feel free to talk to another Rep at that booth
  • Understand each industry partner has made a significant investment to be at the event, through money, time and products. Be attentive when you are with them
  • Do not be afraid of new products. All vendors need your feedback on new items they have, to help them become available to you.
  • Be respectful of the vendor’s time. They want to meet with all the attendees and vice versa
  • Don’t use the show only to express complaints to vendors.  Some things are out of their control. Discuss concerns in a professional manner.
  • Thank everyone for supporting your organization.
