Credentialing
Take Your Profession to the Highest
Level
SNAs credentialing program was created to enhance the
professional image of school foodservice and
nutrition professionals. To become credentialed,
you must take an exam that assesses personal
competency against established standards for
directors/supervisors. Personnel who meet all
eligibility requirements and pass the exam are
awarded the prestigious designation of School
Nutrition Specialist (SNS).
Benefits
Demonstration of your commitment to your chosen profession
Formal recognition of professional achievement at the
national level
Professional recognition from your subordinates, peers and
supervisors
Increased self esteem and pride in your work
More credibility with school administrators, school
committees and the general public
Enhanced career opportunities
Requirements
You must have a minimum of an associates degree or
equivalent (60 college semester hours)
One year of experience in school foodservice and nutrition
within the past five years
30 college credit hours of specialized training specific
to school foodservice and nutrition OR you may substitute an
additional year of work experience at the
director/supervisor level. Each additional year of
experience is equal and may be substituted for 10 college
credits of specialized training.
Application Process
The credentialing exam handbook contains the application
required to apply for the exam, as well as the verification
form. The handbook may be requested from SNAs service
center at
1-800-877-8822.
