The SNA of Massachusetts held its third annual “Super Lunch Hero” contest this Spring. Our primary goal was to find our “unsung hero” of the School Nutrition front lines!
We received over 20 nominations of wonderful “Super Lunch Heroes”! This was the most nominations received to date. While all these nominations were amazing, we had to decide on one winner! This year it was Melissa Gauvin from Station Avenue Elementary in South Yarmouth.
The award ceremony was on Friday, May 8th with the President of SNA of Massachusetts, Kristin Morello, and Public Relations Chair, Diane Zak representing the Association. The entire school, faculty, administration, Food Service District Director, Rooney Pirini, and Melissa’s family were all present for the surprise assembly and award ceremony. Melissa received over 400 nominations from fellow workers, the principal, faculty and nearly every student in the building that all made mention of their love and admiration of Melissa, the food she prepared for them, and the fact that they looked forward to seeing her each and every day. Great job, Missy!
